Translation is not just my job, but my attitude to life in general. This involves not only translating between languages, but also connecting perspectives, preferences and ideas from a range of different people, especially my clients and colleagues.
Bettina works as a translator and teaches German. She lives in Lisbon and Berlin, two cities whose languages and cultures have a great influence on her translation work. After having studied dramaturgy at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich (LMU) and the Bavarian Theatre Academy, she worked for many years as an independent dramaturge and visual artist. Her projects have led her to cities such as London, Cape Town, Dallas, Lisbon and Helsinki. Her experiences in each of these places have enriched her translations from Portuguese and English into German since 2017. After completing her translation studies at the Universidade Nova in Lisbon, she has focussed mainly on culture, science and tourism and has translated for several international artists and film makers, as well as for public institutions such as the Portuguese Embassy in Berlin. She joined the KennisTranslations team in 2019 as a translator and in 2020 became a partner seeking to open new areas of activity in German-speaking countries with a focus on the culture field.
